There is an Android version as well, which works on cloud-based technology, allowing one to stream games directly to their handsets. The feature is currently available on Xbox One and Series X|S consoles, alongside Windows PC via Microsoft’s Xbox app. The catalogue contains over 100 games, both first-party and indie, which are ready to download and play. Xbox Game Pass is a monthly video game subscription system that grants members a selection of titles at a fixed rate. The company’s business model has thrived since then – expanding onto PC, bringing first-party titles on launch day, and partnering with brands to offer a 30-day free trial. The feature was only available to owners of the Xbox console in its early stages, offering backwards compatibility for select 360 titles in addition to its vast pool of games. Concerns regarding developer payout, price distribution, and overall games catalogue were in full force at the time, though it eventually died down as more and more people got access to it. While Xbox Game Pass' Core subscription would certainly be a big step up from Xbox Live Gold in what it offers, and is a dollar cheaper than Xbox Live Gold's current monthly cost of $10.99, its price does seem a tad steep compared to the other Xbox Game Pass tiers.A subscription-based gaming platform, more or less, seemed like a fever dream until Microsoft introduced theirs in 2017. Much like those who have already transitioned from Xbox Live to Xbox Game Pass, players will be able to retain all the free games acquired as part of Games With Gold after the move.
While it will lack the day-one releases of the main subscription tiers, Xbox Game Pass Core will grant access to several acclaimed titles from major franchises such as DOOM Eternal, Dishonored 2, Gears 5, and Forza Horizon 4, and more, with Xbox confirming that new titles will be added two to three times a year. This may be a portion of the titles included in the main service but is significantly more than the three monthly titles offered in the Games With Gold deal. However, players will receive more than 25 Xbox Game Pass titles in their subscriptions instead. With Xbox Live coming to a close, Games With Gold will also end on September 14.
